Research digest — not medical advice. Full disclaimer · How we rate evidence
Overview
Using analog clocks or Time Timers that show time as a shrinking coloured disk instead of abstract digital numbers.
Why it works
ADHD brains have measurable time blindness — the gap between "a minute" and "ten minutes" is harder to feel. A visual disk makes time passing physically observable in a way digital numbers cannot.
Steps
- 1
Buy a Time Timer or similar visual analog timer.
- 2
Set it for routines: shower, getting dressed, cooking, focused work blocks.
- 3
Glance at it periodically. The shrinking disk is doing the work.
Common Pitfalls
- Ignoring it over time as it fades into the background.
- Batteries dying — keep spares.
Find an ADHD-informed therapist
Tactical systems are not a substitute for professional support. If ADHD is untreated or comorbid, talk to someone qualified.
Considering an ADHD assessment?
Tactical systems help, but a formal assessment can open doors to additional support — including medication, workplace accommodations, and specialised therapy.
